Varo Engineers, Inc. |
Serving the Industrial Manufacturing Industry for over 59 years. |

While we have many clients and numerous projects, this list is of the most recent, larger projects that Varo Engineers, Inc. has acquired. These projects are separated by discipline and then by project. |
Automated tripper operation for filling coal bunkers by adding ultrasonics for bunker levels and laser system for tripper position. When the system is running, the tripper will position over a bunker position that is low. When the coal reaches the bottom of the tripper, the tripper moves to the next bunker position that is low. Varo performed the replacement of old mimic panel with flat panel HMI terminals and also the automated starting and stopping sequence for coal handling conveyors. |

Electrical Engineering Consumers Power Cobb Station |
Varo Engineers, Inc. performed the engineering and design for the installation of dust collection system on coal bunkers. System was integrated into existing FIX HMI. Dust collection was interlocked to prevent feeders from running during a fault condition. SAMA drawings were developed to replace the PLC logic with DSC logic during a future upgrade. |

Bulk Material Handling Engineering & Design Ft. Wainwright Coal Handling System |
Varo Engineers, Inc. was retained by Schmidt Associates, Inc. to perform design and engineering for upgrade of coal handling system at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. The project consisted of rail car and truck unloading hoppers, belt conveyors, crushers, vibratory feeders, bucket elevators, dust collection system, screw conveyors, rotary airlocks, modifications of structures, access platforms with a caged ladder, concrete foundations, electrical controls and programming. Project involved engineering, specifications and design. |
Bulk Material Handling Engineering & Design Soda Ash / Pebble Lime Storage & Handling System |
Varo Engineers, Inc. was retained by Collins Park Water Filtration Plant to provide a turnkey installation of pebble lime and soda ash storage and handling system. The project consists of storage silos, day hoppers, pneumatic handling equipment, packaged blowers, slide gates, diverters, dust collectors, screw conveyors, fluidized conveyors, compressor and air supply lines, rotary airlock, access platforms with a caged ladder, concrete foundation for silos, electrical controls and programming. Project involves engineering, specifications, design, procurement, inspection, expediting and installation. |

Mechanical Engineering NRG Energy Bypass Conveyor |
A new reclaim system was installed at the Dunkirk plant. A concrete vault houses a dozer trap, coal cracker, and the bypass conveyor foot end. The conveyor exits the vault and transports coal to the foot end of the existing conveyor that feeds the plants bunkers. Varo Engineers, Inc. completed the design / detail work and purchased / expedited the equipment and steel for NRG on this project. |

Mechanical Engineering Engineering Study for New Stock-out Conveyor |
Varo Engineers, Inc. was retained by NRG to perform an engineering study. The study covered two areas of the plant. One area was upgrading two existing conveyors from 2000 TPH to 2500 TPH and adding a new coal yard stock-out conveyor, also at the 2500 TPH rate. The new stock-out conveyor discharges at a high enough elevation to unload a full train without moving coal in the yard. The other area of the study included modifying the existing rotary car dumper to allow the dumper to discharge rotary coupled railcars. In this portion of the study, the belt feeders below the car dumper were upgraded to limited spillage of coal. |
