FGD Material Handling System

The original coal feed system was rerouted in preparation for the future FGD/SCR Scrubber Project. The first phase of the project included rework of the existing tripper conveyor feeding storage silos and a new, 900 TPH conveyor. The conveyor gallery spans 160 feet between two units.

Varo performed the structural, mechanical, electrical and controls engineering for the project. Varo also furnished the equipment as a supplier to the client.

In the second phase, limestone and gypsum handling systems were part of this major FGD/SCR Scrubber project for a midwest coal generation energy company; new fuel system for scrubber, new open storage pile and modification of existing crusher house.

The project included the following:

A limestone truck dump and 30”, 460 TPH stacking conveyor
Two 30”, 345 TPH reclaim and transfer conveyors
Two 24”, 100 TPH gypsum transfer conveyors
A new gypsum radial stacker

Varo performed the structural and mechanical engineering for the project, and furnished the equipment and structural steel as a supplier to the general contractor.
